Summary0017303: Surface/Underground switching
DescriptionYou can't switch between surface and underground views before you get Scouting.
However, the game showed a notification about discovering Thoraxians, which were apparently underground, and clicking on that message took me to the underground view (from which I can't switch back).

The hotkey for switching between the underground view and the above ground view is tab, you can do this before getting access to scouting and sonar.

* Added a toggle-underground-view button to the bottom plate.
