Summary0015939: Allow for basic cosmetic customization and preview of the player's flagship (basic lighting color)
DescriptionThis is only an cosmetic suggestion.

Is there any possibility to allow the players to change the color of their flagship's lighting? The new ship models look awesome, but the player's flagship always shows the same green lighting. This is obviously a design choice, but would it be feasible or even practical to allow the player to choose between 5 or 6 different lighting colors? I think it would help create a stronger connection between the player and his ship, as well as allow new players to identify their ship better when starting to play.

I've looked in the game files and I haven't found any specific sprites with green lighting for the player's ship, so I assume the green lighting is somehow added through the program, but if it's a matter of re-coloring some parts on sprites, I know someone who could maybe help. Of course, there would also have to be a color selector in the advanced game creation menu, so please check if this is worth the resources for you. I know it would be a big improvement for me, and perhaps for other players.

Related to this, and as another minor suggestion, it would be nice to see how your flagship will look in the advanced game creation menu. Since the player is going to be looking at his ship for a very long time, aesthetics can be important for some players. For example, I had to start a new game with each race's flagship to see how they all looked in-game.

Thanks a lot for reading!

Unfortunately, based on the way that we do the hue shifts, that's not something that is really possible now.

If this was a big desire, then in the future we could theoretically add a second layer that was colored that people could adjust on their flagships. A layer or two, depending. But right now that would not be possible.
