A quick note that almost all of our library is on sale this week as part of Steam’s latest week-long deals, with discounts ranging from 51% to 86% off individual products. Starward Rogue isn’t included this time around due to its recent release, but the game will carry another minor discount in the coming weeks.

Well hello! I’ll have more information on Stars Beyond Reach later in the week. But for the moment, I wanted to give a quick important announcement about our wiki. Previously it was invite-only, and mainly edited by staff. Consequently it was often out of date. Now it’s open to anyone to edit, although you do […]

This one brings official linux support to the game for the first time, as well as a 64bit build for OSX. There is also one minor bugfix in there, too. License Keys No More Another nice thing about this version is that the license key that was previously required is now optional instead. If you […]

While we’re on the subject of wallpapers today, here’s another one for you — this is my favorite image that I did for Valley 1, by far. Enjoy!

A really great question from a recent post: Hi Chris – Is the last federation pretty much the final product now? Unless I’ve missed something the last update was June 6th to 1.24 -25 Before that you were changing every two or three days. Thanks I’ve posted a few notes about this in the Off […]

As a small token of our appreciation for the support you’ve given us, we’re releasing […]

Upcoming Game reveals aside, we have several new developments to share during this week alone: Steam Sale: Entire Arcen Catalog 75% Off Steam’s put the whole lot on sale this time, and I mean everything. I’ve been hinting about this over here, and actually answered a lot of questions about it. However, we were planning on doing a big announcement through an interview with a major news site to announce the game, and so we didn’t want to say too much. We’re now reversing that stance, however. We actually don’t […]

It’s been exactly a month since my last post of WIP art on AVWW! Fear not, it’s not because not much has been going on — it’s because a ton has, but we can’t quite talk about it yet. That said, the art is proceeding really well and I thought I’d share these bits of […]

The emotional roller coaster that is exhibiting at PAX is behind us for the second time this year. I was able to snap/dig up a handful of photos at the event showing the Indie Megabooth crew, our indie dev talk, the Arcen station, and one shot of me looking particularly frowny (think that was near the […]

This one is the next in our series of adding a new spell and other new tweaks each week while the game is undergoing its art revamp for the next few months. There are really a lot of good things in this one. For one, the new spell is just made of awesomesauce: it’s easily […]

We had a lot of fun exhibiting at PAX East earlier this year in Boston. So much so we decided we just couldn’t pass up the chance to do the same at PAX Prime next week in Seattle. So if you’re attending, keep an open spot in your schedule to stop by! (Or even better, […]

This one is the next in our series of adding a new spell and other new tweaks each week while the game is undergoing its art revamp for the next few months. Since I’ve been working on porting Shattered Haven to the new engine, plus working on getting the AVWW art revamp project off the […]

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the forums and/or the Games By Design blog, you’ll know we’ve been planning quite a bit for the second half of the year. A new AI War expansion, completely redone art for A Valley Without Wind, and the reveal of our latest title Shattered Haven. AI War: Ancient […]

This one is continuing our trend of adding a new spell and other new tweaks each week while the game is undergoing its art revamp for the next few months. Since I was out on vacation last week, I obviously didn’t add any new spell last week. So this week there are two! Campfire is […]

So! You may or may not know, but we’ve been working on getting a variety of mockups for A Valley Without Wind in order to significantly improve the quality of the art. The art quality of the game has been really divisive among players since before beta for the game even started, but we never […]

This one is our first post-1.2 beta update and it’s largely responding to bug reports and feature suggestions from the past several days. Many thanks for the feedback! But Chris also added a new monster (the Entropic Esper) and two new spells (Leaping Death and Flower X). The game should probably drop a lot of […]
